Saturdays competition was a Medal round off the terracotta & mauve tees which meant the whole round was a stroll in the park. In group 1 Troy Shaw was first with nett 68 and he was followed by Ray Cocks with nett 70 and he got that on count back from Phil Granich. In group 2 Shane Hawkins grabbed first with nett 66 on count back from Kevin Gibbs with Roy Brider third with nett 67. Jason Walker scored the only hole in two and the nearest the pins went to Rod Dravitzki, Chris Wenden, Isaac Walker, Joel Macklin and Troy Shaw.
On Sunday a Stableford round was played and on group 1 Ray Cocks was the winner with 43 points on count back from Byron Karaitiana also on 43, with Graeme Dick 3rd with 41 points. In group 2 Paul Haxton prevailed with 39 points from Laurence Butler with 37 points and Wayne Evans on 36 points. Group 3 Was taken out by James Jackson with 41 points also on count back from Mike Gaston on 41 and Maurice O’Reilly was next with 39 points. Holes in two were scored by Ivan Karaitiana and Byron Karaitiana got two of them.
On Tuesday the Vets played the Haddon Donald Trophy with a mixed Fourball Best Ball Stableford and there was some good scoring with Ross Ireland & Nan McNae well clear on 52 points, followed by Ken Downing & Shirley Simpson with 44 points, and Roy Brider & Maria Lauvi were 3rd also with 44 points. Nearest the pins went to Sherran Ruhe, Shirley Simpson and Meki Lauvi. Meki also got a hole in two.
This weekend the club competition is a Stableford round on Saturday and a Par round on Sunday. Don’t forget to get your entries in for the Mahunga Christmas Cheer on Saturday 7th December which starts at 10.00am with a shotgun start and entry is $30.00. Good golfing.
