It was a great weekend for golf with fantastic weather and a course in pristine order. On Saturday the Presidents versus Captains Haggle was played and the club competition was a Stableford round. In group1 first on count back with 40 points was Phil Granich from Ray Cocks. Jeremy Harp was third with 39 points followed by Graeme Dick on 36 points. In group 2 Layton Kawana cleaned up with 41 points and he was well clear of Shane Stewart on 36, and Roy Brider was third on countback from Robin Britt with 35 points. Rod Dravitzki scored the only hole in two and the nearest the pins went to Jeremy harp, Anita Karaitiana, Kavan Walker, Shane Stewart, Phil Granich and Brett Sargent. In the Presidents & Captains haggle the Presidents team averaged 33.4 points but that was not good enough to beat the Captains average 38.8 points.
Sunday’s par round saw Kavan Walker take out group 1 on 4 up and he was followed by Jason Walker on 2 up on count back from Darryl Coley also on 2 up. In group 2 Layton Kawana was again a clear winner on 6 up from Denis Hutchby on 2 up and Isaac Walker on 1 up. Ivan Karaitiana scored a hole in two.
On Tuesday the Vets played a Medal & Putting competition and in the men’s division Roy Brider was first with nett 56 followed by Ross Ireland on nett 60. For the ladies Janet Shaw was first with nett 53 followed by Nan McNae with nett 60. In the putting Garth Ramsden was in front with 25 putts from Maria Lauvi with 26 putts. Nearest the pins went to Maria Lauvi and Roy Brider.
This weekend there is a Medal round on Saturday and a Stableford round on Sunday.
