On Saturday Mahunga held its Christmas Cheer Stableford Tournament. A good filed was assembled and a good day was had by all with all the Wairarapa clubs represented and visitors from Pahiatua, Te Marua & Levin. In the ladies division Salina Lange was the winner and had bragging rights with 38 points with Liz Benseman second on 37 points and that was from Wendy Sutherland also on 37 points. Michelle Coley was fourth with 36 points. In men’s group 1 Inia Rademakers was first on countback with 39 points, and that was from Jason walker and Kavarn Walker also on 39 points. Meki Lauvi was fourth with 38 points. In men’s group 2 Ken Kakahi was first with 39 points. Phil Archibald was second on countback with 38 points and that was from Wayne Evans. Bob Eadie was fourth with 37 points. In men’s group 3 Layton Kawana was first with 43 points, with Jack McGlashan 2nd with 41 points. Brett Armour was third on countback with 39 points from Graham Duckett fourth also with 39 points. Longest drives went to Jason Walker, Stu Northe, Maurice O’Reilly and Michelle Coley. Nearest the pins went to Graham Duckett, Colin Finlayson, Graeme Dick and Kavarn Walker. Holes in two were scored by Chris Wenden, Jason Walker, Wayne Evans, Allan Biel, Colin Finlayson, Steve Walton, Sam McLean, Inia Rademakers, Ken Kakahi, Byron Karaitiana, Mark Logan and Kavarn Walker who got two of them.
Sunday was a lot quieter than Saturday and the Club competition was a stableford round. Mark Logan was first with 42 points, with Zeb Livingston second with 36 points and Anita Karaitiana third with 35 points. Anita also scored the only hole in two on the day.
This weekend the Club competitions are medal rounds on both Saturday and Sunday. Good golfing to all those travelling to Levin and Castlepoint’s Christmas Cheers this Saturday.
