Saturdays competition at Mahunga was a Par round and in group 1 first on countback was Stu Northe on 2 up from Chris Wenden also on 2 up. Third was Darryl Coley on 1 up from Meki Lauvi who was all square. In group 2 first was Shane Hawkins on 6 up and he edged out Noelene Stevenson on 5 up. Next was Terry Fleet on 3 up followed by Ian Grant on 2 up. Holes in two were scored by Anita Karaitiana, Ivan Karaitiana, Laurence Butler, Ken Downing and Stu Northe. Nearest the pins went to Ivan Karaitiana, Paul Beech, Ray Cocks, Ken Downing and Chris Wenden.
On Sunday a medal round was played and first was Darryl Coley on nett 69 and this was equalled by Stu Northe. Next was Chris Wenden on nett 71 and Paul Beech on nett 72.
Tuesday saw the Vets play a modified Stableford round where they played off half their handicap but scored double points which is an interesting format. In the men's group first by a country mile and headed for the swab box was Blair Harvey with 52 points. Next was Doug Simpson on 44 points followed by Eddie Tuuta with 42 points. In the ladies group the scoring was much more friendly and first was nan McNae with 44 points who won by lot from Noelene Stevenson also with 44 and third was Lyn Morrel on 38 points. Nearest the pins went to Lyn Morrel, Maria lauvi, Meki Lauvi and Blair Harvey.
