The inclement weather over the weekend meant there were no takers for the Club competitions on Saturday or Sunday. On Saturday Wellington inter club was played and the Mahunga Division 3 team travelled to Miramar where they suffered their first loss for the year, but still have a handy lead in the division. The Division 8 team played at home against Kapiti and in atrocious conditions with continual rain they came away with a good 11.5 to 3.5 win.
On Tuesday there was a small field of vets playing due to the cooler conditions but a few hardy souls lined up for the Stableford competition. In the men's group first was Eddie Tuuta with 32 points followed by Ross Ireland with 30 points. In the ladies group first was Nan McNae with 32 points from Nolene Stevenson on 31 points. Irene Phelps took out the 9 hole group with 16 points. Nolene Stevenson took the nearest the pin on Liquorland number 3.
This weekend sees the completion date for the next round of matches in the Dove Trophy and Nicol Cup played on Saturday and the club competition is a Par round. The competition on Sunday is a Medal round. Sunday also sees the first round of the Marquis Shield for the men at Eketahuna and Mahunga will be playing Martinborough with tee off at 11am. Also on Sunday the Wairarapa ladies play Wellington at Martinborough and Mahunga is well represented with the mother and daughter combination of Anita Karaitiana and Cheycoda Cocks selected in the team so a big congratulations to them.
