It was a big weekend for Mahunga Golf Club with the start of the men's Wairarapa Inter Club Marquis Shield Competition and two of our ladies representing Wairarapa in the team that played against Wellington at Martinborough on Sunday. The Wairarapa team had a good 4.5 to 3.5 win over Wellington and both Anita Karaitiana and Cheycoda Cocks played well. The matches were played off the stick and Cheycoda on her 17 handicap had an excellent half in her match against a player on a 10 handicap. Anita won her match 1 up with an excellent birdie on the last. Congratulations to those two ladies for representing the Wairarapa and Mahunga so well. On Sunday the men's Marquis Shield team travelled to Eketahuna to play against Martinborough in the first round of the Marquis Shield and came away with an excellent 9 to 3 win so well done guys.
