Last weekend was a very successful one for Mahunga Golf Club. Both men's interclub teams won their matches as did the ladies Tilson Salver Team. The men's division 3 team played away at Masterton and had a good 10.5 to 4.5 win and are leading the division. The men's division 8 team had a good 12 to 3 home win against Paraparaumu which has shot them up into second place in the division. The ladies Tilson Salver team played at Masterton and had a good 3.5 to 2.5 win over Featherston and lead the competition in what will be a tightly run contest as usual. Congratulations to all those teams.
The club competition on Saturday was a Stableford round and first with 35 points was Meki Lauvi, followed by Graham Duckett on 34 points. Graham Duckett had the only two but Meki Lauvi went one better on the par 3 17th and got a hole in one so congratulations to him on the perfect shot. Nearest the pins went to Kevin May, Terry Fleet and Meki Lauvi. Sunday's club competition was also a Stableford round and Ian Grant came back to form with 39 points, just edging out Haira Paku on 38 points.
This weekend sees the division 8 men's interclub travel to Manor Park for the top of the table clash, the result of which could see the winner eventually take out the division with only 3 rounds to go after this weekend.. Go Mahunga. The division 8 team plays Miramar at home which is another top of the table clash although Miramar have a good 13 point lead at this stage of the competition. A win by Mahunga would even up the competition nicely. Saturdays club competition is a Medal round and Sundays round is a Stableford competition.
Don't forget to get your entries into the club for the Mahunga Easter Tournament which will be a fun filled weekend as usual. Early bird entries close this Sunday.
