Saturday saw the Wairarapa Mens Fourball Best Ball Tournament held at Mahunga over 36 holes. Colin Trigell of Wainuiomata & Matthew Pegg of Shandon were easy winners of the gross with a total of 136 from Ivan & Byron Karaitaiana on 140 closely followed by Rod Dravitzki & Brett Sargent on 141, Fraser Smith & Mark Bowden on 142 and Lance Sayer & Chris Ranich on 143. The nett section was taken out by the Mahunga pairing of Frankie Martin & Chris Wenden on 121, and they had a good buffer on Brian Pengally & Brendon Curtis on 123, followed by Layton & Lenny Kawana with 124, Stu Northe & Andre Rootman on 127 and Darryl Coley & Greg Granich with 128. Over the two rounds holes in two were scored by Darryl Coley, Chris Wenden, Carl Cocks, Graeme Dick, Shane Stewart, Lance Sayer, Brian Pengally, Andre Rootman and Ivan Karaitiana got two.
Sunday saw a very quiet day for the Stableford round after Saturdays 36 holes. Paul Beech took out the club competition with 35 points with Terry Fleet on 30 points.
On Tuesday the Vets played a stableford round and in the men's group first was Ross Ireland with 38 points followed by Roger Stenton on 35 points. For the ladies Nan McNae lead the way with 38 points from Maria Lauvi with 34 points. Irene Phelps had 17 points to win the 9 hole section from Blair Harvey on 16 points. Nearest the pins went to Maria Lauvi, Nan McNae Roger Stenton and Ross Ireland. Nan McNae had a good day scoring two holes in two.
