Both of the Mahunga interclub teams were in action on Saturday, with both teams playing away from
home. The Mahunga team playing on the eighth to division were playing against the team from
Boulcott’s Farm Heritage Golf Club, which saw the fourball matches going to the home team by 3 wins
to 2 and the singles matches went to the home team by 6 matches to 4. That result leaves the team to
fifth place on the ladder, but they are only two points from being in the mid table.
The division B2 team are playing against Karori, which again saw the fourball matches going to the host
club by 3 wins to 2 while the singles matches favour the home club by 6 ½ to 3 ½. After the third round
the team is and fourth equal spot on the table.
The club competition at Mahunga on Saturday was a bisque par round. The best score in this
competition was Jack McGlashan with a score of 12 up, with Robin Britt the runner up on 6 up, followed
by Bill Ousey on 5 up and then Paul Beech and Martin Andrew on scores of 4up.
The Makes Cents Accounting nearest to the pin on the first hole was taken out by Michelle Coley, the
Liquorland Masterton one on the third hole by Bill Ousey, the McAuleys transport Ltd one on the sixth
hole and the Dinah and Deb one on the seventeenth hole by Paul Beech, with the Pak’N Save Masterton
one on the eighth hole going to Tim Atkins. No one was able to make the hole on the Alister Bruce
Affordable Sheds one on the tenth hole. Only one player managed to score a two on the round and that
was Paul Beech who actually had two of them.
Sunday’s club competition was a medal round. The best score on the day was returned by Cheycoda
Cocks with a score of 64 nett, which only just held off Frank Martin and Allan Biel on scores of 65 nett.
Holes in two on the day were scored by Greg Granich and Paul Beech.
On Tuesday the veterans group played in a par round. Leading the way in the ladies division was Janet
Shaw with a score of 11 up, with Judith O’Connor the runner up on 7 up followed by Maria Lauvi on 5
up. In the men’s division Eddie Tuuta came out on top with a score of 8 up, with Peter Campbell the
runner up on 5 up and then Doug Simpson on 4 up. In the 9 hole division Irene Phelps came out on top
with a score of 4 up followed by Gordon Wilton on 2 up.
The ladies nearest to the pin on the third hole was taken out by Maria Lauvi but none of the ladies was
able to find the sixth green for the other nearest the pin, while the men’s ones went to Eddie Tuuta on

This coming Saturday sees a number of matches being played in the second round of the Dove trophy
competition while the club competition for the day is a par round which is also the second round for the
Clarke Rosebowl.

Saturday the twenty sixth Sunday, twenty-seven March. The field for this tournament is filling rapidly
with an entry sheet in the clubhouse foyer, so if you are intending to play in the tournament would pay
to get your entry on the sheet as soon as possible as most of the tee off times in the middle section of
the draw already taken.
