Captains Prevail
The annual Presidents versus Captains haggle was held on Saturday and the Club Captains team prevailed with an average stableford score of 32.9 points compared to the Presidents teams 31.4 points. The competition of the day was Stableford and first was Robin Britt with 39 points followed by Bruce Herangi who was back from the Gold Coast for the weekend on 36 points. Brett Sargent and Layton Kawana also scored 36 points. Holes in two were scored by Frankie Martin and Paul Beech, and Paul also had the dubious honour of getting Lukie's Lucky Last with 24 points! Nearest the pins went to Brett Sargent, Paul Beech, Robin Britt and Frankie Martin.
On Tuesday the vets played a Bisque Par round and in the men's group Eddie Tuuta was a class above the field with a massive 10 up. Meki Lauvi and Roger Stenton were next with 6 up. In the ladies' group Judith O'Connor was first with 3 up followed by Nan McNae on 1 up and Maria Lauvi all square. Nearest the pins went to Nan McNae who got two of them, Eddie Tuuta and Blair Harvey. Meki Lauvi scored the only two of the day.
This weekend sees the first round of Club Championship matches and the draw with tee times is up on the foyer wall and on the website. The competition of the day on Saturday is Stableford and on Sunday will be a Bisque Par round. Don't forget on Saturday the 17th September is the 3 Person Ambrose Tournament over 18 holes. The Tournament starts at 10am with a shotgun start and the entry fee is $60.00 per team. So get your teams together and get your entries into the club.
